John K. Campbell

John K. Campbell passed away peacefully on Tues., Oct. 9, 2018 at St. Jacques Nursing Home in Embrun, having spent the past two and a half years in care suffering from dementia. He was 83.
He leaves behind his wife, Joan Dow; daughters Heather (Greg Mount), and Linda (Chris LeBlanc); and step-children Nancy (Shazan Ali), Susan (Ron Simpson), and Brad. John also leaves behind his sister, Ina (the late Campbell Mills), and his grandchildren, Sandra and Shawn, and his step-grandchildren, Autumn, Eric, Shauna, Conor, Madison, Alexandra, and Michael. He was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Allison; his daughter, Sandra; and his first wife, Dorothy (nee Thomson).
John K. loved his family, loved being an Ayrshire breeder, a shepherd, and all things farming. He actively supported 4-H, the Metcalfe Fair, his church, Springhill Cemetery, Kemptville College, and many other organizations from local to national. He loved to travel worldwide, and only health issues put an end to that. His legacy to his children, grandchildren, and any other youngster he met was cultivating a wonder of the world around us, and patiently teaching them the joy of discovery.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care he received from St. Jacques Nursing Home.
The funeral was held at Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe on Tues., Oct. 16 officiated by Rev. Liz Chan, with organist Doreen Acres playing beautifully. A burial service followed at Springhill Cemetery in Metcalfe.
