Anne Elizabeth Carson
Nov. 13, 1934 – Sept. 2, 2016

Anne Carson (nee McVey), the beloved and feisty seventh McVey child from Marvelville, passed away peacefully from cancer on Fri., Sept. 2, 2016 in North Vancouver where she had recently moved from Ottawa.
A glorious spirit, Anne grew up on a dairy farm, playing hockey on frozen creeks, winning public speaking contests, and driving tractors.
Anne left the farm to attend secretarial school and work in Ottawa. After marrying, her number one focus was raising six children, and encouraging and celebrating their every achievement. She will forever remain a big, beautiful presence in the lives of her family and friends, and the many people she touched through her tireless volunteering. She loved people, chatting, antiquing, garage sales, travelling, skating, crosswords, bridge, the Byward Market, and, of course, soggy tomato sandwiches.
Anne is deeply missed by her children, Brenda, Ron (Christine), Gord (Treya), Sandy (Tim), Brian (Corry), and Marina (John). She was adored by her grandchildren, Chris (Diana), Julian, Jazz (Mike), Nick, Teal, Coral, Emma, Dylan, Bennett, Jacob, and Sawyer. She was the beloved great-grandma of Sofia, Bo, Beckett, and Isabella. Anne was the cherished sister of Grace, Peggy, Bill, Jean, Helen, and Barry, and the late Jim, Jackie, and King. She was the adored aunt of many nieces and nephews. She was the dear friend of Carol and Ian, the bridge gals, the “crazies” and many others.
A celebration of Anne will be held in Marvelville on Sun., Oct. 16. For details, please email
