Alicia Desjardins-Hutchinson

Alicia Louise Desjardins-Hutchinson passed away suddenly on Thurs., Aug. 6, 2015 at her home in Winchester, with her husband by her side. She was 57.
She was predeceased by her father, Clare. She is survived by her husband, John Hutchinson, her mother, Alicia, her brothers, David, John-Paul, Douglas, and Jeffrey, her sister, Michelle, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and loving in-laws.
Alicia was an accomplished pianist, vocalist, and music teacher, and many of her students excelled because of her prolific musical knowledge and dedicated teaching prowess. She was also an avid dabbler in the world of antiques; she had an incredible breadth and depth of knowledge of collectibles.
John and Alicia moved to the area in 1990, opening The Village Music Academy in Chesterville. They also rented studios at Winchester United Church where Alicia taught piano, voice, musical theatre, guitar, and theory. She also taught piano privately at several area public schools. For many years, they were teaching 145 students per week. Alicia and John also spent about five years in England and Iceland. She will be sorely missed by her family, her friends, and the cats she adored so much.
A Celebration of Alicia’s Life will take place at Winchester United Church, 519 St. Lawrence St., on Sat., Aug. 29 at 2 pm.
In memoriam donations to the Ottawa Humane Society will be gratefully appreciated.
