WINCHESTER – The North Dundas Novice “C” Demons captured the first championship since 2012 for their division Sat. March 31.

The Demons squared off against their county rivals from South Dundas in the finals in what was an exciting five-game series.

North Dundas hosted the first game Mon., March 26 and they didn’t disappoint the home crowd during the contest.

Liam West opened the scoring at 1:19 of the first period with a shot that beat Lions’ goalie Nathan Furtado. Oliver Keyes chipped in the lone assist on the tally.

The Demons sealed the victory in the middle frame with two goals coming off the sticks of Ethan DeJong and Aiden LeClair. Boyd Broadfoot and West added helpers on the game’s final two markers.

Demons 1 – Lions 1
Game two was an exciting and low-scoring affair in Morrisburg with both teams settling on a 1-1 deadlock.

The Lions got the scoring underway early in the first period as Connor McCurdy buried an unassisted goal.

North Dundas evened the score late in the third period with a goal from Ainsley Holmes.

Lions 2 – Demons 0
Both teams travelled back to Winchester for game three Wed., March 28.

The Lions evened the point totals for the series as they defeated the hometown Demons 2-0.

South Dundas got on the scoreboard midway through the second period when Jeremy Barkley was set up Daymon Julien.

McCurdy netted the insurance goal early into the third period to seal the win.

Furtado was solid in goal for the Lions, picking up a shutout.

Demons 2 – Lions 2
The Morrisburg Arena was the site for game four which finished in a 2-2 draw.

South Dundas’ McCurdy scored both of the Lions’ goals in the victory.

Goaltenders Furtado and Cohen Gilmer were solid in nets for both teams.

Demons 1 – Lions 0
The series came down to a deciding game five in Winchester where the Demons pulled off a 1-0 win.

DeJong tallied the game-winning goal with 51 seconds remaining in the second period. Holmes and Cameron Van der Zweep tallied assists.

Gilmer picked up the shutout in the win.
