WINCHESTER – It’s better late than never for a final tally from this year’s Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation Gala.

The hospital’s key financier announced last week that more than $60,000 was reeled in for patient care at the village medical facility. This year’s gala, with a disco theme, took place in June.

Of the total raised, the Winchester Lions Club chipped in with a $2,500 donation.

The money will be directed to the foundation’s family care fund, which serves to purchase items most needed at the hospital, be it new medical equipment or upgrading existing pieces.

“Together, everyone made a difference – our sponsors, our volunteers, all those who donated auction items and everyone who attended the event,” Cindy Peters, the foundation’s manager of direct mail and events, said.

Planning for next year’s gala is already underway.

A final piece related to this year’s fundraiser is the deadline for feedback about the night, which took place at the Joel Steele Community Centre in Winchester. Contact Peters at 613-774-2422 extension 6172 to share your comments.
