Edwin George Drake
Edwin George Drake of RR 2 Mountain died on Nov. 21, 2003 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 88.
He is survived by wife Kathleen “Kay” (nee Maclean), whom he married in Montreal on July 31, 1937.
He was born on Feb. 21, 1915 in Montreal, to the late Arthur Drake and Beatrice (Annie) Trevis.
He is survived by children Margaret-Ann, Stephen and Heather. He will be remembered by grandchildren Ian, Stephen, Roberto, Kristina and Christopher; and great-grandchildren Emilie-Soleiland Zachary. He was brother of Ivan and the late Fred.
He was an entrepreneur and a chemist, CIL and ICI. Throughout his life he was a member of many choirs, including the St. Andrew’s United Church Choir, and the Osgoode Male Choir. He served as choir master for several choirs. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Hallville.
Arrangements were entrusted to Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain. The funeral was held at St. Andrew’s United Church on Nov. 24, officiated by Rev. Blair Paterson. Cremation followed.
Pallbearers were Stephen Drake, Christopher Drake, Ron Derraugh, Glen Wither, Richard Christie and Jim Shaw. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Milne and Tim Stanley.
