Dundas County Players’ youth musical runs Aug. 3 to Aug. 6

WINCHESTER – A full cast of young actors will be shedding their shells this weekend for the Dundas County Players’ youth musical You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown at the Old Town Hall.

The production is based on the comic strip PEANUTS, by Charles M. Schulz, with music and lyrics by Clark Gesneron.

The actors range from ages seven to 15, and have been working hard for the past two months through this year’s DCP Youth Summer Workshop.

According to DCP’s JP Leduc, the production’s musical director Lauren Casselman and producer Brooke Richards are both young professionals who bring a freshness to the original play.

“A lot of the [youth] are first-time actors, so it’s a great way to come out of their shells,” he said. “Facing the crowd will open up whole new doors for the kids…[Casselman] and [Richards] are also young, which brings a liveliness to the production.”

The shows will be running Thurs., Aug. 3 and Fri., Aug. 4 at 7 pm, as well as Sat., Aug. 5 and Sun., Aug. 6 at 2 pm.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and $5 for youth 16 and under. They can be purchased at The Planted Arrow, at the door, or on the DCP website (www.dcplayers.ca).
