Doris Edgerton, a lifetime resident of the Chesterville area, passed away at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Wed., March 13, 2013. She was 89.
Doris was born in Winchester Springs on July 27, 1923, to her parents, John and Mary Coons (nee Hess), and lived for the last 68 years on the Grantley Road.
She is survived by her sons, Ken (Gladys) of RR #1 Chesterville, John (Nancy) of Chesterville, and Wayne of RR #1 Chesterville, and her sisters, Evelyn Coleman of Dundela, and Shirley Coons of Brampton. Doris will be fondly remembered by grandchildren, Kathy (Peter Plaetschke), Karen (Jeff) Barkley, Kevin (Chris) Edgerton, Stacey (Greg) Pedley, and great-grandchildren, Cody, Brady, Kaelyn, Joshua, and Naomi. She was the sister-in-law of Vivian Coons of Lisbon, N.Y.. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl, her son, Robert, her brothers, Dalton, Herman, Clayton, Fred, and Bert, and her sister, Mildred Clark. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville on Fri., March 22 at 11 am with Rev. Wendy Wright-MacKenzie officiating. The pallbearers will be Kevin Edgerton, Jeff Barkley, Don Henderson, Cody Edgerton, Neil Beckstead, and Barry Feeley. The honourary pallbearers will be great-grandchildren Brady, Kaelyn, Joshua, and Naomi.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Maple Ridge Cemetery or Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
