Gerald Leslie Fetterly

Gerry Fetterly passed away peacefully at NanaimoGeneral Hospital on Thurs., July 12, 2007, just shy of his 91stbirthday.
He was born in Winchester on July 20, 1916 to the late Carl andViola Fetterly (nee Hess). He was the eldest brother of VivianStrader of Winchester, Verna Wilch of Port Moody, B.C., and Lorneof St. Catharines, and was predeceased by brother Glendon Fetterlyof Mountain. He was predeceased by his first wife Edna in 1995,and his second wife Eileen in 2006. He is also survived by 15nieces and nephews, and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
During his lifetime, he had a variety of jobs that brought himacross Canada. He worked in the mines of northern Quebec, andlater in Sudbury. He mined in northern B.C., owned a taxi companyin Prince Rupert, and worked on fishing boats. In the late 1940s,he arrived in Nanaimo and became a carpenter and house builder.Over the years he touched the lives of many people who becamelifelong friends. They will miss him a great deal.
He was a respected member of the Order of the Eastern Star, CrescentChapter, and will be missed among this circle of friends.
A memorial service was held to celebrate Gerry’s life at the MasonicHall in Nanaimo, B.C. on Fri., July 20.
