Dwight Gilmer passed away peacefully on Mon., June 29, 2015. He was 93. He was the beloved husband of 69 years to Marion Gilmer (nee Shaver). He was the loving father of Richard (Debbie), Rodney, Carole Marriner, Reg (Charlene), and Anita (Greg Stubbings). He is survived by his 13 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and his sister-in-law Shirley MacIntyre. He is predeceased by his son-in-law Randy Marriner; his siblings Harry and Percy Gilmer, Della Hunter, Annie Adams and Irene Conley; and brother-in-law Frank Shaver. Dwight was a devoted family man, active in his church and community throughout his life. He was also a lifetime progressive dairy farmer, always ready to adapt to new ideas.
Friends may call at the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Iroquois, on Thurs., July 4 from 2 to 4 and 7-9 pm. An Odd Fellows Service will be held at the funeral home Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Iroquois United Church on Fri., July 3, 2015 at 11 am. Interment will be at Spruce Haven Cemetery in Brinston. Donations to the J.W. MacIntosh Support Centre (Respite Program) or charity of choice would be gratefully acknowledged by the family.
