Ray K. Guy

Ray Guy passed away peacefully at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital on Fri., Aug. 24, 2012, in his 79th year.
He was the beloved husband of Joan McCormack. He was the loving father of Carole (Paul Jansen), David (Karen Hope), Treena, Colleen Guy-Colman, Geoffrey (Patricia), and was predeceased by his son, Paul Guy. He was the cherished Gandpa Ray of Eric (Magda) and their children, Mia and Evan; Matthew (Sara) and their children, Spencer and Dylan; Sarah and her son, Jack; Rachel Jansen; Emma (Scott Reaney) and their children, Ellen, Gavin and Keira; Treena (Kelly Beckstead) and their son, Keegan; Kaley Guy (Trevor Gilmer); Doug Harvey; Leah (Bill Finley) and their daughter, Ava; Alyson, Paul, and Emily Colman; and Elizabeth, Jacob, and Patrick Guy. He was the dear brother of Olive Summers, Norma Cinnamon, the late Ella Davidson, Arthur, Orvil, Karl,Gordon, Howard, and Dwight Guy.
Ray was born and raised in Mountain Township. He joined the RCAF at age 17 and served in Zweibrucken, Germany where he met and married his lovely Irish bride, Joan. Ray and Joan returned to the family farm in 1956, raised their family, moved from the farm to Winchester in 2005, and never retired. Ray was a dedicated husband and loving companion to Joan. Ray was widely admired for his honesty and integrity.
Ray rested at the Byers Funeral Home in South Mountain (613-989-3836) on Mon., Aug. 27. A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chesterville on Tues., Aug. 28 at 11 am followed by interment at St. Daniel’s Catholic Cemetery in South Mountain.

Ray believed “that true happiness comes from watching your crops ripen in the field, your children grow tall in the sun, your whole family feel the pride that springs from their shared experience.”
