Harold Holmes of RR#2 Mountain passed awaypeacefully in Dundas Manor Nursing Home on Thurs., Aug. 16, 2007.He was 90.
He was born on Nov. 25, 1916 to Samuel and Reta (MacIntosh) Holmes,he was the eldest of 11. He was the brother of Audrey, Nelda,Eleanor, Lila, Arnold and Eldon and was predeceased by Roy, Gordon,Elva, and Lee.
He attended the Summers School on Highway 43. On finishing Grade8 he had to stay home and help on the family farm. On July 15,1940 he married the former Edith Armstrong and moved to MountainTownship. Together they farmed for many years. In the later yearsthey enjoyed some extensive travelling to Alaska, Western Canada,Eastern Canada and Florida. Their children Ruby, Reta, Arden,Janet, Lester, and Lyman also helped out with farm duties. Hewas the grandfather of 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.He will be sadly missed by all his family and extended families.
Friends and family paid their respects at the Daniels FuneralChapels Inc. in Winchester on Sun, Aug 19. The funeral was heldin the chapel of the funeral home on Mon., Aug. 20, followed byinterment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
