WILLIAMSBURG – Countless local organizations paid tribute to their various helpers last week during the national volunteer appreciation campaign.
The Dundas County Hospice was no different, gathering their numerous “helping hands” Thurs., April 11 at Williamsburg’s J.W. MacIntosh Seniors’ Support Centre.
The afternoon also saw the handing out of the Diane Annable Memorial Award, honouring the hospice’s volunteer of the year. Marg Joldersma was this year’s recipient, receiving the honour from Annable’s husband, Gary.
“It’s a great honour… I love working with everyone there. The connection is wonderful,” Joldersma said. “It’s very rewarding… I don’t meet a lot of clients, but I do meet them sometimes as they come to pick up equipment and I do cook for them, too. Helping them all is important.”
