Greta Lynch (nee Marcellus), a resident of the Dundas Manor Nursing Home in Winchester for the past six years, passed away there on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011. She was 93.
Greta was born in Morewood on March 12, 1918, to her parents, Melvin and Adda Belle Marcellus (nee Hamilton).
Greta worked for a number of years at the Chesterville post office. She was an active member of the Chesterville community, having served as president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 434, and as a member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years.
Greta is survived by her siblings, Madeline Morrison of Ottawa, Kay (Jim) Van Bridger of Ottawa, and Malcolm (Pat) Marcellus of St. Catharines. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert Lynch, her sisters, Evelyn Montgomery and Lois Moore, and her brothers, Dwight, Hugh, and Lew Marcellus. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends called at the Marsden and McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Thurs., Sept. 22 from 10 am until the time of the service. A memorial service was held at 11 am, with Father Cosmas Ajawara officiating, followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. The pallbearers were Donnie and Todd Marcellus.
Donations to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
