Township of North Dundas Mayor Eric Duncan hosted his annual breakfast event Thurs., Nov. 30 at Winchester’s Joel Steele Community Centre. A crowd of 300 attendees listened as Duncan espoused the municipality’s year of accomplishments, including further uptake of the Community Improvement Plan, which since its adoption has helped to generate nearly $1 million in investment. There was also the opening of 11 news businesses in just seven weeks, and the success of the Meet on Main Street celebrations.
Ahead of Duncan’s speech, Alex Munter, CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, touched on the city hospital’s impact on the region, including the 674 kids from North Dundas that visited CHEO last year. Broken down, that means one of every four kids in the municipality visited the hospital in 2016. As well, Gina Jaquemet spoke about CHEO’s impact on her family, including the help both her daughter and son received when complications came up during and after their births, and the treatment her niece Abigail Hosick has been receiving during her cancer battle. For all of this, Jaquemet presented Munter with a donation to the CHEO. Press Photos – Uhrig
