Ken McDiarmid passed away on Thurs., Oct. 5, 2017 at the Cornwall Community Hospital following complications due to a stroke.
Ken was bon in 1931 at home in Dalmeny, the second of four children, to Maynard and Geraldine McDiarmid. He married Margaret Lewis in 1958, and they had four children. Ken farmed his entire life in the Dalmeny and Belmeade hamlets in Osgoode Township.
Throughout the years, Ken served on the Carleton County Milk Board, and was a member of the Osgoode Baptist Church. As a member of the Men’s Choir, he enjoyed two trips to the Netherlands where the choir sang in several local churches. Ken had a keen interest in history and was an active member for many years at the Osgoode Township Historical Society.
Ken was the beloved husband of Margaret (nee Lewis). He was the proud father of James (Connie), Marilyn (Bob Acres), Kim, and Dan (Nancy). He was the loving grandfather of David, Craig, Trevor, and Garrett McDiarmid; Stacey, Bradley, and Shelley Acres; and Adam and Dylan McDiarmid. He was the great-grandfather to Chandler and Murphy McDiarmid. Ken was the brother of Douglas (Edith), the late Clarence (Isabel), and Beverly (the late James Robinson). He was the brother-in-law of Ken Lewis (Marie).
Visitation was held at Daley Family Funeral Home in Metcalfe on Mon., Oct. 9. A service of remembrance was held on Tues., Oct. 10 at the funeral home, followed by interment at Springhill Cemetery.
