WINCHESTER – Life can throw you curves, but it is how you deal with these that keeps your feet on the road or throws you off kilter.

Alexandria Haber’s play On This Day portrays fumbling relationships, sustainable living, youth recklessness, and birthday dinners in an intelligent, funny and moving production of reality.

This play was first produced in Montreal at the Centaur Theatre in 2016, and the Dundas County Players (DCP) secured the rights to bring it to Winchester’s Old Town Hall this month.

Starring Michael Bonner (as Clive), Rachelle Eves (as Sarah), Tony Glen (as Henry), Shannon Murdock (as Celia) and Mackenzie Pretty (as Grace), On This Day tells the story of Celia and Clive who live off the grid on a self-sustaining farm.

During the day featured, the couple has invited their old friends Sarah and Henry to dinner to celebrate a birthday. Unexpectedly, the pair arrives with a guest in town. Her unexpected presence at the dinner forces everyone to confront issues that they have been hiding.

The DCP feature is directed by Amanda Burger, and produced by JP Leduc.

Haber’s plays have been produced across Canada, and she has written several CBC radio dramas, as well as short stories. She wrote On This Day while in Toronto’s Tarragon Theatre Playwrights Unit and she attended auditions for the Winchester production in January.

Opening night is set for Friday (April 21) at 7:30 pm. Evening performances continue Fri., April 28, Sat., April 22 and 29, with 2 pm sets on Sun., April 23 and 30.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth.
