MORRISBURG – The municipality took the first steps to allowing local business owners to offer patios Tues., July 2.
CAO Shannon Geraghty tabled a report outlining the request and the potential elements of the patio by-law.
Those wanting to offer outdoor seating must ensure it is removed at the end of the season, meet municipal design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code and also obtain on the required insurance.
The by-law will allow patios for non-licensed and licensed activies.
Council was unanimous in their support of a by-law in an effort to increase the vibrancy of downtown, main streets, and business districts.
It was also suggested that this could include potential seasonal applicants for Christmas shop shelters as well.
