Consider this: Sam Oosterhoff, a 21-year-old, home schooled, virgin, social conservative MPP, believes he has the right to voice his opinion on female reproductive rights and is helping to shape misguided education changes as deputy to Ontario’s education minister. The only thing that should be aborted is his outdated worldview.

We did learn last week, however, something that Oosterhoff and Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry MPP Jim McDonell have in common – they (or their office staff) call the police on constituents who dare rise up and question the recklessness of the Ford government. Grow up gentlemen. These were library loving grandmothers and parents advocating for their children with autism.

Hats off to South Dundas director of fire and emergency services Cameron Morehouse for the public acknowledgement of fire recruits passing their probationary period. More than a ceremony, it was a wonderful chance to acknowledge the service and sacrifices the men and women of the South Dundas fire department and their families make to keep the community safe.

When discussing the litter issue, South Dundas Councillor Archie Mellan remarked, “there’s always one or two hogs with 10 people picking up after them.” Let’s call them what they are, disrespectful, mindless mouth breathers. Leave the pigs alone. They’re much cleaner.

The only people we have to blame for the mockery that the Ford government has turned the provincial legislature into is ourselves. When you abandon your home and leave the doors wide open, raccoons and rats are bound to move in.

Word is that the Iroquois waterfront committee is planning to re-enact the arrival of the Queen for the 60th anniversary of the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway. Question is, who plays the queen?

Raising the speed limit is Doug Ford’s most authentic move to date. Just like the rogue carnie he is, he didn’t ask the population if “they wanna go faster.”
