A bylaw is a bylaw is a bylaw. Don’t come to me for a financial handout to help you keep the potbelly pig you’ve been harbouring illegally in your downtown apartment for two years. I have little time for your first world problem.

Line of the night at the Winchester Hawks game Friday: “Sticks are hot, get them in the freezer.” This from forward Colby Schroeder as his team entered the second intermission with an 8-2 lead.

A corrupt president, that is unapologetic for his illegal behaviour, has dared the public to enact any of the checks and balances in place to rid themselves of him. The will of the people is reinforced by the strength of the law and the constitution upon which their nation has been built. Trump’s rule has destroyed the moral fabric of a nation, blurred the lines of what is America and rendered a population powerless.

A comment from the Winchester Press Facebook page regarding land clearing for agricultural use: “If the public wants more trees, they are more than welcome to purchase lands with their own capital and maintain woodlots. In this free country I can do what I wish with any land bought and paid for by me.” A charming, but childish notion. Should a landfill or private septic system go unchecked too? The farmer may have purchased the land, but you are a steward, not an owner and as such bear a great responsibility to a system of which we are all a part.

“These farmers are just reclaiming farms that were abandoned during some very wet and cold years during the 60s and 70s. Crop failures bankrupt farms and they walked away from them.” Climate change will result in more crop failures. Round and round we go.

Once people get to Mars or the moon, what will they do there? Is there an IHOP or even a gift shop?
