Ralph Edward Walker

Ralph Edward Walker died on Wed., April 25, 2012. He was 90.
Ralph will be greatly missed by his wife, Myrna, whom he adored for their 65 years of marriage. He was a proud father of his children, John (Karen Hehn) of Walkerton, Mary Jo (Peter Morrison) of Toronto, and Maureen (Rick Schular) of Walkerton. His grandson Kyle Schular’s marriage to Alison (McDonald) brought him great happiness, as did time spent with their two young boys, Grady and Axel. Ralph dearly loved his grandson, Scott, who died at the age of 18 in 2002. Pearl Burd fromNiagara Falls will miss her younger brother. Ralph was predeceased by his brother, Charles Walker (Mabel), and his sister, Helen Summers (Harry).
Ralph came from a family in the dairy business in Winchester. He owned and operated Walkerton Dairies Ltd., and Walkerlea Farms on the top of the east hill in Walkerton. Walkerton Dairies was well known for 25 years by area residents for its quality milk products. Standardbred show horses were Ralph’s one true passion, and the family spent many fall fair seasons showing horses throughout Southwestern Ontario, winning many first place ribbons. Ralph was a well-known competitor at the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto for 35 years. He also travelled to show his horses in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Washington.
Visitation was held at Cameron Funeral Home in Walkerton on Sun., April 29. The funeral service celebrating Ralph’s life was held on Mon., April 30 at St. Paul’s United Church in Walkerton with Rev. Herb Klaehn officiating, followed by interment in Walkerton Cemetery.
Memorial donations to the Victoria Jubilee Hall in Walkerton, or World Vision would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
