Manley “Speed” Wheeler passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, on Mon., May 19, 2008 at Winchester District Memorial Hospital. He was 77.
He was born in Winchester Township to the late Edward and Ann (nee Manley) Wheeler. He is survived by his wife Catherine (nee Robinson), his son Stewart (Kim Barkley) and daughters Gail Miller (Clayton), Connie (Mark Switzer) of Kingston, and Lorna (TonyMcCadden). He is survived by three sisters Donelda (Stewart Edgerton) of Ottawa, Aurea Chambers (the late Terry) of Alberta, and Florence (George Parks) of Ottawa.
He was predeceased by four brothers Desmond, Raymond, Dwayne, and Gerald, and two sisters Joan and Irene. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Betty (nee Elliott), and Reggie (nee Tessier), and brothers-in-law George Gaudry and Desmond Lanahan. He will be sadly missed by six grandchildren Alison and Erin Wheeler, and Judd, Garrett, Lucas, and Austin Miller, and by many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at the Chesterville Funeral Home with a mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Chesterville followed by interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. The pallbearers were Stewart Wheeler, Clayton, Judd and Garrett Miller, Vic Patenaude, and Tony McCadden. The honourary pallbearers were Lucas and Austin Miller, and Mark Switzer.
