Dorothy Evelyn Wicks

Dorothy Evelyn Wicks entered into eternal peace on Tues., Nov. 6, 2012. Her final days were spent with her family by her side at the Winchester District Memorial Hospital. She was 78.
She was born on Jan, 28, 1934 in Winchester to Alec and Mary Levere. She was united in marriage to George I. Wicks on May 18, 1950. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1979. They were married for 29 blissful years.
An exemplary mother and homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed preparing meals and baking pies and cinnamon rolls. She crocheted blankets, and knitted many pairs of slippers for family and friends. She liked to play euchre, and took great pride in winning. She also loved to watch soap operas, and often sang along with the old country music on the Galaxy Channel. Above all, she had an unwavering love for her family. Over the years, she devoted much of her time as a caregiver to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children and their spouses; Elaine (Angus) Ross, Wilfred (Sandy), Bruce (Kathy), Larry (Susan), Donelda (Harold) Meldrum, and Kathy (John) Marion; 24 loving grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Walter Wicks.
A memorial service was held on Fri., Nov. 9 at the Daniels Funeral Chapels Inc. in Winchester, with Rev. Lois Gaudet officiating followed by interment at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville.
